AM, with Compact TV, supplies Granollers with the first municipal audiovisual archive
This production and archiving system multiplies the possibilities to work with and access audiovisual material
The Town Hall of Granollers is installing Compact TV, the audiovisual production and archiving system developed by Activa Multimèdia, for the digitalisation of its documentary holdings. By means of this facility, Granollers Audiovisual, the public company that manages all audiovisual municipal services, creates the Granollers Audiovisual Digital Archive (Arxiu Digital Audiovisual de Granollers, ADAG). ADAG is the first archive of its kind in the municipal sphere and will act as a central repository of TV content – whether of a historical nature (Granollers TV), or of new creation (Vallès Oriental TV), or of radio broadcasting (Ràdio 7 Vallès-Ràdio Granollers). It will also act as repository of video, audio and photographic documents.
Initially, the archive will make accessible some 6,000 hours of video and a further 4,000 of audio. It will now be possible to retrieve them instantly online. The system, connected to other digitalised documentary holdings, incorporates a low-resolution viewing system, and indexation is by key-frames in order to facilitate the selection and the management of the content to the users.
ADAG will have its premises at the Centre Audiovisual Roca Umbert-Fàbrica de les Arts complex for cultural production, the facility that each year hosts the Mercat Audiovisual de Catalunya (MAC).
Compact TV is a solution designed to cover all the production and archiving needs of televisions, or of any institution or company that may need to manage audiovisual material. The system offers a great range of possibilities for professional production, including the capture, the video edition, the management of assets, the archiving and the play-out.
The setting up of the ADAG facility owes much to the collaboration of Comexit, a company devoted to multimedia and audiovisual engineering projects.
